Mimi Kodheli was the Defence Minister of the Republic of Albania.
 
Mrs. Mimi Kodheli was born in Tirana, in September 1964. She is married to Leka and they have a son, Mikel.

Her educational background is rich characterized by her prominent culture inherited by her family and her studies focused in various fields such as, international markets, bond and assets, labour and investment markets, trainings on small and medium enterprises and banking management. She has worked as a lecturer of economics and finance at several Albanian universities such as the European University of Tirana, Luarasi, and Marlin Barleti at the Faculty of Economics for a long period from 2007 till 2010. Also she has participated in various international programmes of high educational and political standards such as the programme of U.S. State Department, “Women in Politics”, and in the “National Security Policy” programme of the Marshall European Centre for Security Studies in Germany.

Mrs. Kodheli has completed her education in the field of finance and economy first by obtaining a degree in Finance in 1986 by the University of Tirana, Economic Faculty. Then in 2000 she obtained her Master Degree in Public Administration awarded by the Lincoln University, Nebraska, USA, in cooperation with University of Tirana. Some years later decided to deepen her knowledge in the science of finance and in 2014 took her PhD in Economic Science at the University of Verona, Italy, in cooperation with the University of Tirana, Economic Faculty.

Mrs. Mimi Kodheli started her political career in 2002 when she was appointed Deputy Mayor of the Tirana Municipality. Her love for art, culture and hardworking were an extra value that contributed on the transformation of the capital city of Albania. Later in 2005, she was appointed Prefect of Tirana Region and in 2009 was elected Member of Parliament by holding the position of Vice Chair of the Economy and Finance Committee throughout the Legislature of 2009 Parliamentary Elections. As well she has been a member of the Socialist Party Leadership since 2007 and member of Region Council of Tirana.

Mrs. Kodheli is a woman with various experiences within her party, at local executive level as well as at academic level, until she was assigned to particularly high and important posts, up to then covered only by men.

Mrs. Kodheli has an excellent command of English and Italian language, and is quite fluent in French and Spanish.
